WHO ARE VEGANS?

Vegan are people who do not consume any animal-based product ranging from meat, fish, eggs, dairy products,honey or any food containing them and which are considered to interfere with animal life

WHAT DO VEGANS EAT?

A Vegan diet relies completely on plant-based food including fruits, vegetables, grains, beans, nuts, seed, soy products.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VEGAN AND VEGETARIAN

A person following a vegan diet does not consume any animal-based product including eggs and dairy. However, vegetarians do not eat animal-based products but they may consume honey and dairy.

IS TURNING VEGAN HEALTHY?

Following a diet based exclusively on plants may put some people at a threat of nutrient deficiencies, this usually happens when one does not plan out their diet. A vegan diet can be a healthful and nutritionally adequate diet, one just has to make sure to eat enough food with protein, calcium, iron, vitamin B12, and omega 3 fatty acids.

DRAWBACK OF BECOMING VEGAN

One major drawback of becoming vegan is the deficiency of Vitamin B12, a vitamin that is most commonly available in meat and fish and plays an important role in the division of red blood cells in the human body. One may have to eat supplements to overcome this deficiency.

 

Vegan Recipe -CHICKPEA SANDWICH

  

INGREDIENTS

200gm boiled chickpeas

½ bell pepper, chopped finely

¼ onion, chopped finely

¼ cup cucumber, chopped finely

1 Tablespoon of seeds of your choice

1 Tablespoon of coriander-chili paste

½ lemon, juiced (optional)

1 pinch salt, to taste

1 pinch black pepper

Salt to taste

Bread (you can use gluten-free bread)

DIRECTIONS

  • In a large bowl, mash the chickpeas
  • Add the remaining ingredients to the bowl and mix to combine.
  • Make sandwiches and Enjoy
